New Baby : Caleb

Welcome baby Caleb!

After a long 9 months (2 weeks + 1 day!) little Caleb joined the world. I spent a lovely morning with Caleb and his adoring parents when he was just 8 days new. Such a gorgeous, sweet natured chap, just like his Mum & Dad!

I actually photographed Caleb’s parent’s wedding back on October 2011 (remember Dani and Jonny?!) and I was absolutely honoured to be invited to photograph the beautiful new addition to their family.

Congratulations again to you all on the safe arrival of such a sweet boy.

These are the kind of newborn photos that I love – natural and soft, showing off the true beauty of newborns, fluffy hair, curled toes and peeling skin. While I do like the more “posed” styles I’m not a big fan of Anne Geddes-esque shots of babies in flower pots and on scales. When was the last time you visited a friend and their baby way happy snoozing on the kitchen worksurface in their Salter scales…?

Babies are precious and fragile and that’s how they should be shown. I think, anyway!

Can’t wait to see you grow, little man.

The Pointen Family

As I said in my Peek Post, this family is delightful; I can’t really put it into words how welcome they made me feel. I felt like a long-lost friend visiting rather than meeting them all for the first time.

As usual when I go to shoots with young children, both boys were a little shy at first, but it really didn’t take them long to warm up! Mum and Dad played with them, read them stories and generally behaved as they normally do, which meant that I got to capture them exactly how they are. They can look back on these photos and say “that’s us”. I love that.

I wanted to really capture them, and I think I may have just done that.

So here are the very special Pointen Family, with love x

Finn Does Easter

Here (finally!) are the images from Finn’s Easter shoot back in, well Easter time! I’ve been so busy with lots of different things (news to come soon) that I haven’t had time to blog properly and I didn’t want to do a half-hearted effort!

The first half of the images I really played around with the editing – which I always do on personal work – and I kind of like the matte finish to them. It would look great on wedding images, what do you think?

My wedding season starts this Friday so look out for lots of shoots coming up!

These images have blown me away, and I know I shouldn’t really say that about my own work!

The camera used here is a very old Mamiya 645 which is a fully manual camera, and you have to do all the settings yourself (no auto!). Although some could do with being a bit more over exposed, I absolutely adore them.
